A Christmas Post: Bears, Books, and Bookish Gifts

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We were able to have four days off work and spent a lot of time together, with our puppies, with family, and catching up on projects when we had the chance. Today’s post covers everything that’s been going on lately. I know that I haven’t been putting up any posts lately, but that’s because I have been so busy working on these teddy bears.

I made them for all of the nieces and nephews (we have 10 remember) and a couple of other kiddos we know. So total I made 13 (not all pictured) over 3 months. I am very happy with them and if you want the pattern this original post contains the link.

There are lots of other things to love about the holiday season and for many people, myself included, this is a season of tradition. One of my favorite traditions is to read The Twelve Days of Christmas by Debbie Macomber.

The book follows Julia Padden over the twelve days leading up to Christmas. She is up for her dream job and has been asked to write a blog. If she gains more followers than the other person up for the job she will be hired immediately. Julia also has a grumpy neighbor, Cain Maddox. After complaining about him to a friend, she is encouraged to kill him with kindness and document the results on the blog. What follows is beyond Julia’s wildest dreams and hopes. This book is about love, charity, and kindness in a Christmas setting.

Last up are the newest additions to my book and Harry Potter collection that I received as gifts this holiday. My boss gave me this Elder wand pen and Dumbledore bookmark. I was very excited about that.

But the Harry Potter train didn’t stop there. My parents gave me a Harry Potter ornament and this heat sensitive Maurader’s Map mug. When you put a hot drink (coffee or tea) the black fades away and is replaced by the Maurader’s map logo, some footprints showing certain characters (Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy were the first ones we spotted), and the words “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.” I love it.

This year I also asked for the entire set of A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. I am looking forward to reading the entire series through. I think I read about half of them when I was a teen. I also will be doing a comparison here on the blog between the books and the Netflix Original series by the same name. And to complete the ensemble my parents also gave me The Unofficial Autobiography of Lemony Snicket. That should be interesting and give me a lot more background on the secret society. That will also be reviewed after I read it!

Thank you for stopping by to read this random little post. The craziest and most wonderful time of the year is over and I am looking forward to 2019. I have some big things planned for the blog and am making the resolution to be more consistent here. I don’t know how many posts I’ll get up between now and Monday, but on Monday for sure I will have a post that will be highlighting all of the posts that I plan to put up in January and when you can expect those. Until then, happy reading!
